RELACJE MIĘDZYLUDZKIE: SYLWIA GIZA WYSTAWA TWÓRCZOŚCI

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of attending an exhibition of my friend's work. I met Sylwia a few years ago, when together with Małgosia (she was the one who did our corporate photo shoot) they opened the most creative cafe in Tarnowskie Góry (my hometown) - Slow Kreatywna Kofeina, which I wrote about once. In addition to the fact that Sylwia is a very nice person, she is also an artist with great talent. So, I couldn't miss her exhibition, which took place on Saturday in the well-known Carbon Studio. I can't imagine any other place that would be more suitable for this exhibition. But speaking about it...

The exhibition included paintings from 2019-2023. Its coherent theme is human as a single individual, but also in this case as an element of the world. Some find themselves in it more, being able to build their own space, others less - getting lost in the imposed values. The images show different cycles. A lot has happened in the last four years, which the artist tries to show in her works. Here we have "Relations Between Humans", which began with monochrome works made in ink on paper. The era of pandemic and politicization causes helplessness. People express wildness and immaturity towards each other. The next paintings from this series were created in colour. The characters, while still simple, gain more customization. The last cycle to appear at the exhibition are oil works - most of them feature women. However, here as in the previous series, the artist pays attention to the relationships and dependencies between them. Two people began to appear in the paintings - in small formats, in the form of a diptych (a portrait of a married couple, which you can see in the first photo of today's post), and in larger ones, on one canvas. The artist encourages you to try to find your own interpretation. Perhaps the presented gestures or facial expressions will have a completely different perception for everyone.

. . . .

Doba pandemii i upolitycznienia powoduje bezsilność. Ludzie wyrażają wobec siebie dzikość i niedojrzałość. Artystka zachęca do próby odnalezienia własnej interpretacji.

WSPÓŁCZESNY PRZEWODNIK KULTUROWY: CZYLI SZTUKA W NOWYM FORMACIE

Mam jednak głęboką nadzieję, że w końcu nasze życie wróci do normy i będziemy mogli obcować z kulturą w bardziej realnych warunkach.

CHRISTMAS CULTURAL GUIDE OF LONDON

Visit Covent Garden for the best Christmas decoration this year - this car in real is
green, but I love this photo so much (Photo @clairebearlondon)

December is undoubtedly one of the most magical months of the year. Preparing for Christmas, decorating our houses and time spent with relatives on long conversations or walks on Christmas markets. The last one is undoubtedly one of the nicer activities that makes the waiting for Christmas even more magical. In the end, how can you not use it when the cities covered with Christmas decorations and cheerful songs reverberating on every corner turn into a magical land? In today's post I decided to prepare some cultural attractions that have their place in London. If you are planning a pre-holiday trip to the capital of Great Britain, or you live in England and would like to spend the weekend discovering the charm of London waiting for its tourists, then be sure to read further :)

WINTER CULTURAL GUIDE

December is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful months of the year. The period of preparation for the Christmas time, baking gingerbread, decorating Christmas tree and priceless time spent with family and friends. But there are many possibilities, which will help us take even more of that time. I know that in many places where you live the white fluff commonly known as snow had a chance to appear (I still firmly believe that it will snow in London this year) so you probably do not need anything more to boost your happiness. However, as in every new season, I prepared for you a small cultural guide which I sincerely would like to invite you to! :)

SUMMER CULTURAL GUIDE

Photography by Terence Donovan
„HOW TO SURVIVE SUMMER IN THE
CITY – CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS”

Summer in the big city can sometimes be difficult. Most of us dream about holidays, relaxation and escape from our day-to-day routine, but with our work commitments, we often have to plan our holidays down to the exact day. How do we then make the best of two months of summer and good weather? (Well, perhaps in London’s case it’s just two months of summer…)

I’ve written up a list of a few attractions for you; places and events that I think are well worth a visit during your summer break. Who knows - maybe they’ll become your getaway during your weekends and evenings after work :).

SPRING CULTURAL GUIDE

Spring has finally arrived and I am so happy as this means that I can spend more time on a fresh air wondering around London and doing the thing I like the most – pictures. I might sound like a total freak right now, but those of you who enjoy photography as much as I do will understand. There is nothing much more exciting then nature that is just waking to life, lots of sunshine, someone walking his dog and people riding on their bicycles around those beautiful paths in the park, covered with the perfect light.

WHAT TO DO IN LONDON - AUTUMN CULTURAL GUIDE

New season always brings new cultural events. Their frequency is mostly based on the place or more like on the population. I am lucky enough (I know I say that enormous number of times J) to live in London - place mainly known from its cultural events options. It is middle of October. Days are shorter, nights seems to be longer and the temperature outside isn't very convincing. If you live in London and are wondering how to organise your spare time just stay with me for the rest of this post. I will give you some autumn guide to how to not get crazy when you have nothing to do :)
P.S. Those of you who live anywhere else just check the internet for your local events. Maybe you will find something that is worth your time :)

WHAT TO DO IN LONDON - SUMMER CULTURE GUIDE

Lately, I have been doing some random net browsing and found out about few interesting thing that are taking place this summer in London. I thought I will add few more bits which I already knew about and create a post for you. I know that living in a big city can be a misery. Especially if you consider it is summer time, your friends are gone for some holidays and you are left alone or just simple have no idea what to do. Considering the fact that there is no seaside right in London (I know what a shame!), but we still have to deal with that sometimes. From the other hand living in big metropolis like London have some pluses as well.
